How to Find and Defeat Glurch
Use sound and slime to find Glurch, prepare a movement area, and turn its leap attack into a repeatable dodge-and-hit plan.
Quick answer
Look for a slime clearing in the starting area around the Core. Nearby thumping and screen shake are useful clues. Glurch attacks by jumping toward you: move out of the landing area, then take a short opportunity to attack. Bring back the Glurch Eye to activate its statue. Location · Attack pattern
Before you start
The first Glurch is already present in the world; you are looking for it, not collecting a resummoning item. The scope is PC Steam, Standard difficulty, release-generation worlds without mods. See the final verification notes for the research method and its limits.
Suggested kit, not mandatory thresholds: a repaired weapon you can control, your available armor, recovery items, light, and a shovel or hoe. The clearing tool has a specific purpose: Ground Slime slows you and can be removed. We do not prescribe a damage score or a fixed potion count. Ground evidence
Step 1: Search from the Core, then stop to prepare
Explore the nearby starting region and watch for slime-covered open ground. When the thumps and shaking become noticeable, use them to narrow your search. Mark the location once found rather than treating another world’s compass direction as your coordinates. Finding evidence
Do your preparation before closing in on the boss. Our suggested approach is to make a small loop of usable movement space and identify where you can retreat if you need to recover.
Step 2: Remove the movement problem
Use a shovel or hoe to lift slime from the route you intend to move along. Deal with ordinary enemies before engaging the boss if they obstruct that route. The purpose is predictable footing, not a claim that a particular arena shape guarantees safety. Slime evidence
Check your weapon and recovery hotkeys while still out of immediate danger. Do not spend combat time searching your bags for the tool you meant to equip.
Step 3: Repeat a short combat loop
- Watch for the jump toward your position.
- Move away from the expected landing area before trying to attack.
- After the landing, make a short attack, then leave space for the next movement.
- Repeat while watching the ground you are moving onto. At low health, Glurch jumps more frequently, so shorten your attack commitments. Pattern evidence
This loop is our editorial plan based on the documented attack. The plan does not promise a speedrun or an invulnerability setup. Use the weapon you handle reliably; a ranged option can let you work from farther away, but distance alone does not guarantee safety.
Common problems
| Problem | Adjustment to try |
|---|---|
| Repeatedly caught at the landing | Prioritise leaving the landing area over an extra hit. |
| Movement becomes sluggish | Recheck the ground; clear slime before the next attempt. |
| Boss returns and heals | You may have pulled it too far from the fight. Re-establish your combat area near its original clearing. |
| Final part feels much faster | Reduce each attack commitment as the jumps accelerate. |
The reset behaviour is documented, but the Wiki distance values disagree. Do not build a strategy around an exact leash length. Reset evidence
After the fight
Collect the Glurch Eye, return to the Core, and place it in the Glurch statue. This advances the Core objective; merely leaving the loot behind does not finish it. Relic evidence
Continue with Ghorm, or use the Core activation checklist to see which relic is still missing.

Disputes, untested details and limits
- This is documentary cross-checking, not gameplay testing. Wiki entries may share an origin and are not independent experiments.
- Scope: PC Steam, release-generation worlds, Standard difficulty, no mods. Console builds, Classic worlds, Hard mode and mods are outside scope.
- The PC 1.3.0.7 announcement was reviewed as the version baseline; the walkthrough has not been executed in that build. If behaviour differs, record the build and observation before relying on it.
- Wiki aggro and reset distances disagree; exact tile ranges and fixed-position exploits are excluded.
- HP, damage, drop rates, mandatory gear thresholds and guaranteed consumable counts are excluded.
