How to Get Scarlet Ore in Core Keeper
Reach Azeos’ Wilderness, distinguish wall ore from boulders, refine Scarlet Ore with the right kiln, and plan your next craft.
Quick answer
For a normal exploration route, open the Great Wall through the Core quest, reach Azeos’ Wilderness, and mine ore-bearing walls for Scarlet Ore. Process the ore in a Smelter Kiln to obtain Scarlet Bars. A stationary drill is for a boulder setup, not a prerequisite for collecting your first wall ore. Route · Location · Smelting · Boulders
Before you start
Check the Core activation guide for your missing relics. In the current release route, Malugaz belongs to that objective; do not follow an old checklist that makes Hive Mother mandatory. This is a normal route, not a claim that trading, imported items or unusual world edges can never provide ore earlier.
Plan a manageable collection trip: repair your mining tool, bring food, recovery supplies and light, and leave space for ore. We do not provide an unverified minimum mining-damage number or a fixed ore target. You do not have to defeat Azeos just to search the Wilderness.
Step 1: Open access, then ask for direction
Complete the Core relic/dialogue steps and interact with the Great Wall. Return to the Core for the direction toward the Wilderness. Do not spend better mining tools trying to break the progression wall. Route evidence
Mark your return route as you explore. Treat finding the correct biome and accumulating enough material for your chosen craft as separate milestones; the article does not promise a universal compass heading or world coordinate.
Step 2: Distinguish wall ore from a boulder
Search the Wilderness’s ore-bearing walls and collect Scarlet Ore from mining them. If a tool is not making progress, reassess its mining capability in your installed build rather than assuming you must already own a Scarlet tool to obtain Scarlet. Wall source
| What you found | Appropriate route |
|---|---|
| An ore-bearing wall | Mine with a capable tool and collect the loose ore. |
| A Scarlet ore boulder | Mark it for a stationary, powered drill setup. |
| Scarlet Ore in inventory | Take it to the correct refining station. |
| Scarlet Bars in inventory | You already have the refined crafting material. |
Boulders and walls are separate acquisition methods. Marking a boulder now lets you return later without confusing the first-ore trip with an automation project. Method evidence
Step 3: Refine with the correct station
Use the Smelter Kiln for Scarlet Ore. Place the ore in its input, observe processing and collect the resulting Scarlet Bars. Check the input and output names rather than treating any station labelled “furnace” as interchangeable. Refining evidence
The reviewed Wiki places Smelter Kiln crafting at the Iron Workbench. This station-location detail is community documentation; no workbench material quantity or processing time is prescribed here. Check the current in-game crafting menu rather than adding a guessed recipe. Station evidence
Step 4: Choose the next craft before spending bars
Scarlet Bars feed equipment and machinery, including the Drill. Choose the craft you actually need, inspect its current menu, and reserve the bars it asks for. Do not count raw ore as bars already available for crafting. Use evidence
Our suggested planning order is: choose a craft → check its station and inputs → collect → refine → craft. It is an inventory workflow, not a required game progression sequence.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Check next |
|---|---|
| No Scarlet in the inner biomes | Check whether you have reached the Wilderness beyond the wall. |
| A boulder will not mine like a wall | Plan the separate powered-drill method. |
| Ore does not process at your chosen furnace | Check that the station is the Smelter Kiln. |
| The recipe asks for Scarlet Bars | Refine ore before counting it toward the craft. |
| An old guide requires Hive Mother or killing Azeos first | Use the linked current Core route; do not add an unsupported boss gate to this collection trip. |
What to do next
If you want a larger supply, keep the boulder marker for a future drill project. This article distinguishes the method but does not claim to be a complete automation build. For unresolved progression, return to Core activation or Malugaz. The optional Hive Mother encounter is a separate challenge, not a requirement for this material route.

Disputes, untested details and limits
- No independent game session, game-data extraction or screenshot evidence was produced. Separate editorial sources are corroboration, not proof of independent experiments.
- Historical reports are restricted to mechanisms still corroborated by current sources; numerical thresholds, world coordinates and guaranteed loadouts are omitted.
- The route is not a universal ban on obtaining ore before wall removal: imported items, multiplayer gifts or world-edge exceptions are not tested. Azeos need not be defeated merely to search its biome.
- No minimum mining-damage value, exact iron-pickaxe requirement, ore-generation rate, smelting duration or workbench recipe quantity is asserted. Check the actual station and tool in the installed build.
